Thanks to Netflix’s Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the life and deeds of infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer have gained new attention.

In the limited series, it is shown how Jeffrey Dahmer brutally killed at least 17 individuals after carefully pursuing his targets. The streamer also released a docuseries in early October that had previously unheard tapes from his legal team.

Numerous of his later killings included cannibalism, necrophilia, and the permanent retention of body parts—typically the entire or a portion of the skeleton.

The first of two sons, Dahmer was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 21, 1960. He was the child of teletype machine instructor Joyce Annette (February 7, 1936–November 27, 2000), and chemistry student and later research chemist Lionel Herbert Dahmer (born July 29, 1936).

Joyce Dahmer’s cause of death: What happened to Jeffrey Dahmer’s mother?

SHe slit up with her husband, Lionel,  when Jeffrey was 18 years old.

Joyce was a hypochondriac who battled depression, demanded constant attention and spent more and more time in bed. She used Equanil in a suicide attempt once.

According to the United Press International, Lionel Joyce attempted suicide again in 1994 as a result of her ongoing mental health issues following the revelation of her son’s misdeeds. The source reported that Joyce lit her gas oven and left the door ajar. She was found face-down in her house with a note and a will, and was rushed to the hospital where she made a full recovery.

Joyce’s mental health issues were shown in the limited series in stressful and chaotic moments. Lionel did mention in his book that Joyce experienced postpartum psychosis after giving birth to David.

In his 1994 book “A Father’s Story”, her ex-husband Lionel Dahmer, who is also the father of Jeffrey, said that Joyce experienced difficult pregnancies with both Jeffrey and his younger brother David. She experienced muscle stiffness (along with other symptoms) during those pregnancies, for which phenobarbital and morphine were administered, he claimed.

According to Deseret News, Joyce passed away in November 27, 2000 due to breast cancer. At the time of her passing, Joyce was the founder of “The Living Room,” a Fresno, California, HIV community center, and a case manager for the Central Valley AIDS Team.
